This infographic is to go along with the WebQuest. It purposely has limited information on it so that students will have to rely upon the internet to find the information necessary for the WebQuest. The flow of the infographic is to represent the months (in order) each holiday is in, to give them a big picture of when during the year these holidays are celebrated. Discussion of how to know how old something is is encouraged using the dates of when the holidays were established.

Because of time constraint, I was unable to teach the whole WebQuest, but I was able to condense it. I introduced the WebQuest and the holidays listed in the WebQuest, and let students pick which holiday they wanted to learn more about. They chose Veterans Day, and so we watched the video and I had them create a small poster on a piece of notebook paper. We were only able to answer question 3, which asked why we celebrate Veterans Day. I originally intended to have several days for students to work on the WebQuest to give them plenty of time for research and creating their posters.
Digital Storytelling Project:

When I created this project, I meant to be able to attach a recording of me reading the story. I was unable to do so, so I pulled up the story on the smart board, and clicked through the slides as I read the story to my students.
Reflection of using technology in the classroom
Although it takes more time to prepare lessons when incorporating a technology component, it is so worth it. Students have access to some sort of technology almost 24/7. When it such a major part of their life, why wouldn't we also incorporate it into the classroom?
Technology enhances the content we teach, when used correctly. Creating lessons that incorporate technology by having students be fully engaged- interacting with the technology, using it to research and explore- is the best way to use technology because it helps make our content more interesting. When students are interested, they are enjoying what they are learning, and when they enjoy it, they learn the content.
